Cesar Mariscos
One of the best restaurants in town. Located on the pedestrian street, across from the beach. Fine first class atmosphere and excellent service, specializing in seafood’s. Opens at 7:00 a.m. and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nice view of the beach. Accepts all major credit cards. Full international bar.
Sherwood
Located on the beach, at the end of the pedestrian street at the Hotel Sherwood, it serves good sea food, outstanding garlic dishes and an excellent seafood soup. as well as a variety of beef dishes. Great breakfast. Charming atmosphere and good service, restaurant located next to the pool at the Hotel. Open daily from 7:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m.
Luces del Norte
Located one block north (towards the beach) from central park. Their specialty is seafood and meats.
Seafood is always fresh! Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meeting place for many tourists, also offers book exchange and a selection of books for sale in different languages. They now also have a guest house. Ask for info at the restaurant. This is one of the oldest restaurants in town and has always had an outstanding reputation. Nice garden style seating area.
Restaurante Maya Vista
Canadian food, with seafood and pasta dishes. One of the best views of the Bay of Tela from its high lookout point. French, English and Spanish spoken. First class service and family atmosphere. Open daily from 9:00 a.m. from 9:00 p.m.
Steak House
This is a branch of the famous La Plancha restaurant in La Ceiba. Fine steaks and seafood in a pleasant, very clean atmosphere. Located just past the bridges in the Tela Nueva section of town. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Full international bar service. Accepts major credit cards.
Mamma Mia Café
A great option for breakfast, lunch or dinner in Tela. Very reasonably priced typical Honduran, Garifuna and Italian selections in a pleasant informal setting. Internet service available. Open daily from 7:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. Located across the street from Banco Atlantida, in the heart of town. Also available here are ecological tours and Garifuna shows.
El Tucan
Located on the beach at Honduras Shores Plantation close to the Garifuna Village of San Juan, Tela. Menu specialiazing in seafood in a friendly, tropical environment. Open daily from 9:00 a.m. Also features a large pool with a swim up bar and a beautiful wide white sandy beach.
Bahia Azul
Located on the beach road, just before the new bridge, just across the street from the Bahia Azul Hotel. Outstanding seafood dishes and a nice air-conditioned admosphere. Open daily for lunch and dinner.
Villas Telamar
Guaruma, located at the largest hotel in Tela, offers the most elegant dining option in Tela. Large, air-conditioned dining hall with nice views of the beach and offering both buffet and a la carte dining. Nice selection of wines and full bar service. Architecture and décor reminiscent of the old banana companies that operated within Honduras. Open from 7:00 a.m. till 11:00 p.m. and offers a variety of international and seafood dishes in an elegant and relaxed atmosphere.
Casa Azul
An old Tela home that has been renovated and turned into one of the most popular restaurants and bars in town. Now under the management, Lunch menu includes a variety of seafood, steak and chicked dishes, as well as veggie options. A favorite for both locals and tourists. Open daily for lunch and dinner from eleven till past midnight. One of the few spots open late in Tela during the week. A good spot for local information regarding Tela and surrounding areas including tours around the Tela Bay area. Very friendly staff and management. Probably the best stocked bar in town.
Bella Italia
An authentic Italian restaurant, owned and managed by Italian expats, this establishment offers outstanding pizza and pasta. Full international bar, a nice selection of wines and pleasant inside and on the sidewalk seating, reminiscent of Italian streetside cafes. Open Tuesday to Thursday for dinner from 4:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. From Friday to Sunday open for lunch and dinner from 10:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m.
Shadow Restaurant & Bar
A new, European style restaurant bar in a nice old banana era wooden home offers a different pace and a nice atmosphere to relax and mingle with the tourists passing through town. Located on the right side of the main street towards new Tela, over the old bridge. Nice menu and friendly staff. Good cold beers and a nice selection of food to choose from. English, Spanish, French and Flemish spoken here!
Las Bellas Restaurant and Bar
A very informal and popular beach bar located right on the beach, east of Central Park now offers a variety of BBQ dishes including the best and largest burgers in town as well as buffalo wings. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m till 7:00 p.m. Popular with local expats and English speaking locals.
La Libelula
Located at the new Bayside Hotel, right on the pedestrian road on the main Tela beach, this nice restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with a nice view of the beach. The main dining room has air-conditioning, but they they also have streetside tables for those who prefer to be in the open air. Menu includes a variety of seafood, steaks and pastas. They also have a well stocked bar on premises.
Cafeteria Presidente
A cool pleasant terrace overlooking Tela’s central park, this cafeteria is located at the Hotel Presidente. Offers good Honduran and International foods. A variety of cocktails and good service. Open daily from 7:00 a.m. till 11:00 p.m.
Pizzeria El Bambino
Located on the main boulevard in town, one block from the beach with a pleasant open air terrace. Good pizza and spaghetti, as well as a variety of other dishes. Open daily from 9:30 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. An extensive playground for children offers the best alternative for eating with children.
El Pescador
Located in the Garifuna village of San Juan, only 5 minutes from Tela. Oceanfront restaurant, with cool trade winds and the sound of the surf to soothe you! Excellent and very friendly service. Always-fresh fish and seafood at moderate prices. Open Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Monday from 9:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. On Friday and Saturday open from 9:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m.
Cafeteria Tuty’s
Located in the heart of Tela, just across Garifuna Tours on the main square. Offers an excellent breakfast as early as 6:00 a.m. Variety of fresh fruit juices, 100% natural orange and grapefruit juices. Also a good lunch served at noon time. Open till 10:00 p.m. Closed on Sundays.
Baleadas Tia Carmen
Famous for its delicious baleadas, as well as a variety of typical Honduran dishes and fresh fruit drinks and juices. Two locations, the first on the Jose Cecilio del Valle street, next to Banco BGA, open daily from 7:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m., the second in the zona viva district, across the street from the Istituto San Antonio Gym is open from 8:00 a.m. till 11:00 p.m.
Arrecifes
Located on the pedestrian street next Bella Italia and overlooking the beach. Specializes in seafood as well as other typical foods. One of the most popular restaurants and bars in town. Open daily from 8:00 a.m. till midnight, later on weekends. Kitchen is open till closing time, making this one of the few places in town where you can get a bite to eat after 10:00 p.m. Closed on Mondays. A very popular late nite hang out with nice seating arrangement right on the street overlooking the beach.
Los Angeles
Good international and Chinese food with generous portions and good prices. Good service and air conditioned. Open daily fro 10:00 a.m. till 2;30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. till 9:30 p.m. Located on the main street, close to the old bridge.
Restaurante Puerto Rico
Located at the Puerto Rico Hotel, on the beach at the end of the pedestrian street, and only two blocks from the park. Serves international and Honduran specialties on an ample terrace overlooking the Bay of Tela. Open daily from 7:00 a.m. till midnight.
Auto Pollos al Carbon Teleño
One of the quickest places for lunch in Tela. Located 300 ft. from the beach, almost across the street from the Hotel Bahia Azul Good broiled chicken and salads. Open daily from 10:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m.
Pizzeria Roma
Offering some of the best pizza in Honduras! Located in the downtown area of the city, half a block from the main street, just next to the hotel Marsol. They also offer typical Honduran foods, speguettis, lasagna, calzones, as well as breakfast and lunch. Personal attention by owner, Jose.
Texaco Venecia
A new alternative for a great buffet in a clean, hygienic atmosphere with air conditioning. Located at the Texaco Venecia service station on the outside of town, almost across the street from the detour towards the Jeanette Kawas National Park. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 6:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m. Great meeting facilities and the best option for a strategic stop on the road for clean toilet facilities.
La Banana
A unique Bar and Restaurant located in the charming Caribbean Coral Inn in Triunfo de la Cruz, just outside Tela. Garifuna specialties and their own Caribbean Creole recipes. Caribbean rums, superior Chilean white wines and Honduran Beers. Located right on the beach!!! Free roundtrip transfers from your hotel in Tela.
Pelican Resort
Located right on the beach on the road towards San Juan, this nice beach complex offers a good setting for families who are visiting Tela for the day and need facilities to entertain their kids. Swimming pool, water slides, childrens outdoor game area are all available. Fee for the use of pool and water slides. Two different restaurants, one a la carte and one offering buffet food. They also have some nice cabins for rent.
